How Black Sable™ ATLAS handles website enquiries and personal information.

Scope and contact

This notice applies to this website and enquiries directed to Black Sable™ ATLAS. Project-specific processing and the identity of the contracting responsible party must be set out in the relevant appointment or data agreement.

For enquiries about this policy, email louis@blacksableatlas.com or telephone +27 83 456 8816.

Information provided through enquiries

The enquiry builder prepares an email in your own application. Before you send it, the entered information remains in the page; it is not submitted to a website database. If you send the email or contact us by WhatsApp, your name, contact details, organisation, project information and correspondence are received through those services.

Please provide only the information needed to explain your enquiry. Do not send identity documents, sensitive personal records or confidential site files through the initial enquiry.

Purpose and lawful processing

Enquiry information is used to respond, understand the required scope, prepare quotations and administer an agreed engagement. Personal information must be processed on an applicable lawful ground under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), such as steps relating to a contract, a legal duty, a legitimate interest or consent where required. An enquiry is not consent to unrelated electronic marketing.

Service providers and sharing

Hosting, email, messaging and professional service providers may process information needed for the relevant service. Sharing with project specialists must be limited to an authorised purpose. Any arrangement involving processing outside South Africa must meet the applicable POPIA requirements. External services have their own terms and privacy notices.

Security and retention

Information must be protected with safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity and retained only for the required purpose, applicable legal obligations or a lawful record-keeping need. Access, retention, deletion and handover requirements for project datasets are agreed separately. Report a suspected exposure of project or personal information promptly through the contact above.

Your rights and complaints

Subject to applicable conditions, you may ask whether personal information is held, request access or correction, object to processing, or request deletion where retention is no longer justified. Identity or authority may need to be verified securely. A privacy complaint may also be taken to the Information Regulator.
